So.....what on earth is happening with the weather? Hail stone this week, a lit fire, a thick cardigan and a bowl of wintery style soup. From being sat outside last week and potting on all my pumpkins, courgettes and artichokes under a warm buzzy insect and fluttery butterfly sky, I am now hiding inside looking out the rainy windows willing the sun to come back.

Perhaps some pictures of earlier in the month will blow those grey clouds away and encourage the lazy sun out of hiding.

Crab apple blossom, now all but magenta petals on the floor, my tulips in tubs and pots now have seen better days. The garden is ready for the next stage, early summer.

My first auricula bought from an honesty stall in Cornwall, I could not resist and thankfully managed to get it home, 8 hours in a cramped car without being broken or accidentally having luggage put on it.

Then just before the weather arrived, just hours in fact, I found a great plant nursery local to home, down country lanes. Absolutely brimming with summer annuals for hanging baskets, tomato plants and French beans. And that's exactly what I bought.

Geraniums for my window boxes, various trailing plants for a basket and some lime green nicotiana for terracotta pots. Lots of sweet peas for the obelisk at the allotment, so cheap that I wonder why did I even bother trying to grow them from seed as it never works out well. Same for the tomatoes, there are now neat rows of Gardener's Delight in raised beds at the plot and that's saved me a lot of time. I'd become too precious about having to do all the process myself from seed to harvest but really it is impossible with busy family life.

So when the rain and cold breeze move on I will be back out there making my hanging basket and the patio look pretty, hopefully be able to sit out with a cup of tea and my son can play with his garden toys. Another cold day it seems as I gaze through the window here :( Is it cold all over the UK? Are you huddling in a jumper too?

Mad weather this week - hail, rain and sunshine all in one day on Tuesday here! Today seems lovely though - though I am still swaddled in a cardy. Maybe the weather saw this post and took the hint ;)
I love plant nurseries and often find them just as pretty as gardens themselves.Envious of the plants - but not of that drive!
Thanks for joining in again lovely x
Sun's back out today so I'm happy. You've spurned me to start exploring and find a lovely nursery near me!
regardless of the weather, your garden looks great. i would love some cooler weather right about now....
I know crazy weather isn't it!! My flowers don't know if they're coming or going!! x
oh wow those gorgeous pink flowrs , i want some x
Your photos are gorgeous.
I agree, the weather's been bonkers lately. We're off camping tomorrow for the weekend, so it had better behave!
What a little gem of a place! I bet you wish you were closer to home to fill the whole car up with goodies! By the way I'm still wearing vests and cardigans in the house! Brrrr!
What a lovely landscape. Stunning colours. #thegallery
What a green and pleasant land we live in! x
Loving the colour and that spot looks fabulous. I'm not enjoying the weather wither!
Love finding a bargain nd agree with what you said, seeds sometimes just defeat me and I found a lovely cheap wild flower farm and bought plants - it is a good feeling isn't it! Lovely pics!
Loving your photos and loving your bargains too. I admit to not paying too much attention to the garden this year, I decided to take a year off.
Oh yes, it was jumpers all week for me so far this week, apart from today:-) Then I was overdressed. That looks like a great bargain, I wonder if our garden centre has any bargains on veggies that we never got round to starting on our own from seed...
certainly seems that spring really doesn't want to end, can't believe how long the tulips have been out in bloom
Drooling over your pretty photos! #hdygg
Such pretty flowers! This up down weather is so bad for plants, and for people! I don't know what is going on!!
So many pretty flowers and I just wish I had a garden to grow them in x
Is so beautiful. Yesterday we were driving thru Gloucestershire and the landscape is so different. Is a joy to discover new roads and lovely small villages.
The flowers look so beautiful, I love all the photos, they are stunning.
Such beautiful pictures. I wish I was more of a gardener
The weather has been completely bonkers hasn't it? Let's hope it gets itself back on track shortly - that garden centre looks like a real find and I suspect will become a very dangerous place :D #hdygg
The weather is nuts . I am sure summer will be here soon .. won't it ?
I agree with you, it all looks lovely. I would love a laundry room!
Gorgeous photos but I agree...where is the sunshine?! Today was actually pretty good but I hear more rain is on the way... :/
aww i love a good hanging basket! .. i so need to sort my garden out i have neglected it this year
i totally wished i had a laundry room ... it would be my little piece of heaven!
I've also started buying plants rather than seeds. So much easier and faster but I do feel guilty about the greenhouse being left unused. Maybe next year I'll have another go with all the seeds I've accumulated!
Such a darling little nursery.
Seeds or plants, both have an appeal but the instant gratification of plants seems to win out.
The weather has picked up, fingers crossed the sunshine is here to stay
Gorgeous cheery flower pictures to brighten yet another grey morning - it will come soon surely!?
Tell me about it - it was only 4ºC one day last week on the school run and there wasa touch of frost in the valley.
This is so pretty, I would LOVE a laundry room!
so pretty and cute looking :-)
Such a cute looking room
