Here is where I admit to you that our allotment plot is currently a mess. So much that I couldn't even face it but got a panic on that we would end up evicted and sent DB there to start the work.. So here are the photos that DB took - plain and simple. I want to record it here as hopefully come spring it will be neat rows, freshly painted shed and all bags of rubbish to the tip. It will, it will......I promise. 
It's not really been lazyness that we have fallen behind, just life being busy and it's quite hard taking Little Bird there. We will soon tidy it over the course of January - I hope! If the rain stops. The first two pics are our plot.
We also need to plant some fruit bushes around the edge to create a boundary since when we take Little Bird he's off over the whole site and will not stay put. You can't put a fence around the plot so we will have to be creative. He's not really at the helping out stage yet but he will one day and it will be a great place for him, especially if we end up home educating (a story for another day)
DB is going there all weekend to do the hard digging up of all the weeds and I'll start planning what the growing plan will be. Armchair gardening at its finest.
I really hope it looks a whole lot better this time next month and now that I've posted on here about it, that's my driving force to show you the improvements. Hopefully some pictures of it covered in snow too :)

I completely feel your pain. I had a huge garden setup in my back yard this past spring and over the summer it became a huge giant mess. I was too sick to tend it properly so now it has been filled in with grass. :-(
I can't wait to see how you plan out your allotment.

Oh you too then, I hope you are feeling better. It only takes a season and that's it, taken over. We have couch grass and its roots are like spaghetti, spreading quickly. Hopefully I'll win the battle by spring. Take care, Sam x

It looks tidier than our allotment (and we've had it for nearly 3 years so have no excuse)! Would love to see how it develops.
ooh, so much promise! I'm always so intrigued when I walk or drive past allotments, it seems you can pack an almost endless amount of plants into a relatively small space! looking forward to reading your updates :) x
Oh, but once the weather turns, it will look better. I keep saying that to myself about our backyard (a muckhole currently since we are soaked with rain). I giggled at your words too!

What an adventure this will be! I started an allotment shared with my mother in law quite a few years ago. I had good intentions, planted things in, but I didn't know if what was growing was a weed or plant. It all turned to weed and I couldn't keep up with the littles escaping. And I couldn't cope with the annoyed looks of another allotmenteer who did not appreciate the chaos I rode in on. Maybe one day...
Yes, it's hard and I have thought so many times about giving it up but I waited for about 7 years to get it and have bought a new shed etc. Hanging on with it all .......just!
Yes, as soon as spring arrives it will start looking pretty again. We made a start this weekend with it and have cleared a quarter. x

That's part of the reason I refuse to give it up as I know I'll drive past allotment and look in and feel that intrigue. For £20 a year, it is certainly a lot of growing space and an escape too. x
I've had this a while too, it's just so hard with little 'un. I hope it will get better when he can come along and not run off.
I do love my allotment when it is sunny, it's a struggle at this time of year. We made a start this weekend on tidying so at least it looks like we are still interested.

I would really like an allotment but the space and size is kind of terrifying. Good luck getting yours sorted!
