What's growing in Dad's greenhouse - April

greenhouse thermometer greenhouse growing spades seedlings lilliums cabbage plants strawberry plants greenhouse bits and bobs leek seedlings hello frog shed trinkets white flower
April days spent by my dad in the greenhouse. Sowing seeds, nurturing seedlings and meticulously potting them on. Whole trays of cabbages and calabrese (that's broccoli to us). Perfect strawberry plants, not a blemish and the future summer flowers all growing in a warm hotbed. Liliums for my mum, in tall pots, grown from bulbs that my dad over wintered are now full of growth. Delphiniums already steadily climbing up and on their way to providing a beautiful show in the summer. Tomatoes starting their life with true seed leaves showing and a whole host of others from peppers to sweetcorn. Best of all, I get to take trays of them home to plant on my allotment :)

Of course the rest of the garden is coming along too and the pond is full of frogs. I spotted one cheeky fella poking his head out. I took all my vegetable plants home and this week I need to get then planted at my allotment. Gorgeous free family food.

Love this. I can almost smell the aroma of a greenhouse and remember my Dad. Humid, damp smell of soil and tomato plants. I miss that...

Oh this is the bestest - I love greenhouses, it's no secret that I hanker after one myself. Alas I have to make do with grandads greenhouse - the smell is one that that never leaves you - that tomatoey aroma that never seems to leave it. Oh so happy to see things growing so fast - and just lovely photos - thank you so much for sharing x

Your dad has been very busy, I can see where your food will be coming from in a few months time. The frog is so cute and I love the flowers on your arrow :-)

Wow there is so much in your dads greenhouse! We'd love a proper greenhouse at some point, but for now we have a couple of the plastic ones. One day, we'll have one! We'd love to have all of that fruit and veg growing :-) #hdygg
