quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson |
Letting the pulling of weeds take away the stress of the day.
Half an hour in and my mind is eased.
And there are fewer weeds in at least one patch.
Many more worries and weeds to go.

I'm going to make a sign to warn of the curse of pinching from my little shed.
Nothing in there but spiders anyway.......
and my pretty tin kettle.

I spread chicken manure and dug it in.
Planted two rows of broad beans and covered them in a long cloche.
Planted two fruit trees - looking a bit pathetic I have to say but only £3.99 each from Aldi, so worth the risk.
An apple tree and an unknown straggly stick without a tag. I like a surprise.

A few jobs for over the next week to keep me busy. I'm willing the rhubarb to hurry up - must be a late variety as my neighbours rhubarb is quite a clump already.
Dreams of rhubarb crumble and vanilla custard.
Dreaming of my cutting garden, this year I will have plenty to gather for vases, I hope.
Resting my legs now, quite a work out digging and planting.

Thank you :) It was from Aldi. They seem to get some lovely things in for children.
Thank you. He was only 50p from a charity shop. Oink!
Horrible about the break-ins, though glad you managed to escape. It does look clear, and £3.99 fruit trees are definitely worth a go. Might need to pop to Aldi now...!
That's the only problem with Aldi. Sometimes I send OH in as soon as it opens for these special offer items.
Awww thanks, it's a bit of a junk shop really :)
Your lucky having an allotment, I don't have any nearby, so just stick to flowers and shrubs and my greenhouse. Your going to be busy over the next few months. Shame about the thiefs. #hdygg
oh, some people can be so mean! lucky your shed escaped. wow, that's quite a list of veg and fruit… we're planning to build raised borders in our garden but have no idea what to plant in them, except tomatoes and strawberries! x
i personally dont like gardening, even though im the only one who looks after our garden, because after hours of works follows a pain, but my father in law loves the allotment he can spend the whole weekend there
I would love a garden big enough to grow veg, might have a go at growing some in various pots this year. Beautiful photos of one very loved allotment xxx
Gardening is so therapeutic. I'm glad your shed wasn't broken in to but sad that others were :( I must plant some rhubarb, I love it and miss enjoying my parents' rhubarb since they moved!!
Looks like hard work but fun! I love Aldi surprises. They are so cheap and usually in a pathetic state, I justify my purchases because I feel like I am rescuing them!
Can't wait to have my own garden! Soon hopefully ;) It's going to be a lot of clearing up when I saw it last time ;)
What a nuisance about thieves getting into the allotments - what is wrong with people? No respect :(
I love the idea of an allotment - we grew our own a few years and it was wonderfully rewarding and therapeutic too. Can't wait to see more as things grow x

Looking good and I am glad your shed fought off the intruders!
"i like a surprise" lol i love it! and am glad your shed was safe
I love how gardening make your worries go away, there's a lot to be said for hard work and the great outdoors. If you need a guard dino just give me a shout - the sight of me with no make-up or supportive bra first thing in the morning would fill their hearts with dread ;)
Thank you for joining in again xx
I love daffodills, they are my very favorite all time flower. Looks like you have been working very hard to get your garden ready. We are still having snow here so it will be awhile before I can work outside.
naughty people! they think everyone put gold in their shed. lol. good luck with your planting!
You're planting already - eek! We haven't started planting anything in our veg patch yet - you're putting me to shame!
I do love your writing your so poetical, love your going for it already you will be leading the way #HDYGG
I love the idea of your surprise tree. It sounds as if a session in the allotment was a perfect de-stress activity xx #HDYGG
Oh how I wish we had an allotment. I have many happy memories of our family allotment
Lovely photos - I love your Kelloggs jug x
This is a long list of tasks... and I bet this is just a start :-)
Wow! Your allotment is looking really good! We have got one but it just looks like a field seeing as it's new. x
I love being in the garden and it is so satisfying watching everything grow then cooking with it :-) fb & #HDYGG x
I wish I enjoyed gardening, you make it sound so therapeutic!
I love looking at the posts from #HDYGG although sadly my garden isn't up to me joining in! Your allotment looks lovely :)
It's great to have something like this that can help you to focus on something positive when you have worries. I am rubbish at gardening unfortunately!
It's lovely you have such a passion. I would love to grow veg, but we tend to kill any form of plant life in our house. x
Oooh it looks absolutely wonderful!! Our rhubarb has grown well in the last week or so because my husband threw a bucket over it (I don't pretend to know why this works, I just nodded and went with it!) Can't wait to see how the Aldi trees grow :)
How awful that people have been stealing , hope the fruit trees settle in well
I wish I was more green fingered... Im still on the basics lol :) Cant wait to see what the stick surprises you with when it grows :) #HDYGG
Oh wow good luck with getting everything done, it must be lovely having home grown veg. x
Good luck with your allotment......really wish I had green fingers
Love your allotment - we are on a two year waiting list .....
That's not that bad. I was 8 years and then when the list transferred from the council to allotment committee, I was 'lost'! Keep mithering them as a keen person gets noted......On our allotment site there are loads free so I do get the impression that interest is waning. Good luck!
so lovely to have an allotment! I often day dream about having one but in reality I know it would be too much work for me to keep up! x
Fab post. I can't wait to get started with our garden this year! So good that your lock managed to prevent the shed from being broken into as well!
I must get on top of my garden this year!
I adore 'pull a weed lose a worry' - my new spring mantra! So pleased to have found your blog, just settling down with a cuppa to keep reading! :) Katie
How lovely to have an allotment! I have broad beans in rows along the windowsills at the moment but will be brave and put them out this weekend. I love the promise of things to come that this time of the year brings.
I so love these updates as they remind me of things I've still got to do. Your allotment is looking very neat and tidy. I've also been to Aldi this week about bought a raspberry and blackcurrant bush that resemble twigs. Fingers crossed!
Oh wow you've done wonders with your allotment, we've not started clearing yet! It looks so tidy and what great jobs you have now. I didn't know you could buy plants in Aldi, must look into that. Our garden is in serious need of some love! Best of luck with your planting, look forward to hearing how it goes x
