Handcrafted furniture and homewares

Nothing is better than a hand-crafted item that is made with care and attention. I love products made in the UK by craftspeople that are unique and a change from mass produced items. When you know the history of a company and about its processes, it makes an item feel special and one to treasure.

One such company renowned for its craftsmanship are British furniture makers Titchmarsh and Goodwin who have been in business for more than 90 years designing and making furniture pieces from their workshop in Suffolk. All of their furniture is made to order by an experienced team, built with sustainable wood from managed UK forests. Predominantly English oak, while other timbers used include burr walnut and Karelian birch. All are FSC-certified and made beautifully into stylish furniture for every room. Built to last by their team of wood turners, carvers, cabinetmakers and French polishers, plus other specialists such as a gilder, a glazier and a lacquer artist. Such magic weaved into every piece and one that will last a lifetime beyond.

The company have now launched a range of luxury household accessories including solid oak, walnut and end grain sycamore chopping boards, trinket boxes and bowls. Every item is hand polished and is a great eco friendly gift for the home. The chopping board would be a super addition for a kitchen or for use as a server at a dinner table. I love natural products and they compliment a home very well. The chopping board would make a fabulous gift for the foodie in the family and you have a wonderful item made with the same skills the master craftsmen use for making their furniture.
Chopping board retails at £40

Titchmarsh and Goodwin whilst being mainly offering a traditional look, also work very closely with interior designers and can offer bespoke pieces for a more modern and contemporary environment. Their design studio with its huge archive is able to use this in the design process to produce unique items to fit your home. Each piece you buy has been hand-crafted at every step of the process and finished by techniques taken years to master with skills passed down through generations - a great investment for your home.
